VIJAYAWADA: Following the cabinet's nod to fortify Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu's security, state home department on Thursday released a government order for creation of 290 posts to chief minister's security group (CMSG) in intelligence department.
Subsequent to the threats issued to CM Chandrababu Naidu by Maoists, the state cabinet had immediately decided to beef up his security.
In the GO issued by special secretary to government, it was mentioned that the present security personnel is "grossly insufficient".
"Consequent to bifurcation of the State, only 196 personnel was allotted to the CMSG of AP and the remaining 142 were allotted to Telangana. The present strength of 196 CMSG personnel is grossly insufficient to provide security to the present CM. As CM has been touring extensively to various parts of state and country, the CMSG strength needs to be enhanced," the GO read.
Accepting the proposals sent by the home department, the government decided to approve 290 more posts across 12 categories. The additional posts include five additional superintendent of police, seven deputy superintendent of police, 23 reserve inspector of police, 51 reserve sub-inspector of police, 148 police constable, one manager intelligence department (MID), one assistant manager intelligence department (AMID), 3 intelligence department assistant (ID Assistant), one office superintendent, 4 senior assistant, 6 office subordinate and 40 home guard.
It may be recalled that the Maoists issued threats to take revenge against Chandrababu Naidu post the Malkangiri encounter in which 31 Maoists were gunned down by greyhound force of Andhra Pradesh in October.
